Joe was a native of Carter County, TN, and attended Harmony Baptist Church. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Francis Burrow Buckles and sister, Mary Lyons.

Survivors: sons, Joe Buckles Jr., of Coleridge, Jeff Buckles, and wife, Tammy, of Ramseur, sisters, Martha McIntosh, Sandra Hardin, Elizabeth Samples, Vikki Ward, Fredia Knorr, Elanor Prophett, brothers, Rocky Buckles, Danny Buckles, Allen Buckles, grandchildren, David Buckles, Jenna Buckles, Jeffery Buckles, Daniel Buckles, Joanne Pilgrim, Caleb Buckles, Aaron Buckles, Nathan Buckles, great-grandchildren, Dalton, Dakota, Emma, Jed, Rachael.
