Xantippie Robbins Cheek, 78, of Franklinville, died Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

Xantippe was born in Asheboro on August 3, 1942 to the late T. F. and Kathrine Robbins. She was employed in a hosiery mill earlier in life, then was the shoe store manager at K-Mart for several years, and then helped manage her son's business. She loved her family and was always helping out family, friends and sometimes strangers in various ways. Most people called her "Mama". She loved genealogy, crocheting, sewing, reading, her dogs and spending time at the beach house. Xantippe is dearly loved and cherished by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, T. F. and Katherine Trogdon Robbins, sister, Nada Jada Hill, and cousin, Eddie Brown that was like a brother.
Survivors: husband of 61 years, John Branson Cheek, of the home, daughter, Rebecca Cheek Lambeth and husband, David, son, John Branson Cheek, Jr., sister, Shelia Robbins Scott and husband, Rick, grandchildren, Caroline Lambeth Fogleman and husband, Nick, Autumn Cheek Dugas and husband, Josh, John B. Cheek III, David Lambeth, Jr., Andrew Lamar and wife, Marit, great-grandchildren, Betsey Ann Lamar, Emersyn Fogleman, and Brooks Lamar.
