Born in July of 1945, Susan was the daughter of the late William Lee Cox and Mary Lee Graves Cox. She was the sister to the late Deanna Cox Spivey-Hall.
After graduating from Franklinville High School in 1963, Susan married her high school sweetheart, Steve, who was a beloved husband to her for 56 years. Susan was a gentle and quiet spirit who loved working in her gardens, swimming in her pool, putting puzzles together and reading. She enjoyed baking and camping at the beach. She loved all animals—especially her cats. Her signature color was pink.
Susan held various jobs through the years including time spent at Franklinville Elementary School where she served as a child care worker. She later became the co-owner of S&S Nance Transportation until she retired in 2010. Her role as a wife and mother always took priority in her life. She was an active member at Mountain of Faith Christian Church where she and Steve served the JOY Class.
Memories of Susan will live on through her husband as well as her son, Anthony Nance and wife, Kim, of Asheboro, daughter, Tammy Nance Walthall and husband, Drew, of St. Augustine, Florida, as well as her daughter, Tracey Nance Marley and husband, Chad, of Ramseur.
