Richard Blake Whitaker, 70, of Climax, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem.
Funeral Services, 3 PM, Friday, August 4, 2023, at Red Cross Baptist Church, Climax.
Officiating, Rev. Bud Rowe.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Richard was co-owner and founder of Whitaker Farms. Over the years he has served on many farm organization boards and currently served on the NC Farm Bureau Board. He was an active member of Red Cross Baptist Church.
He believed his greatest accomplishments came from God, including his family, the farm they built together and his friends.
Survivors: wife of 50 years, Faylene Whitehead Whitaker, his sons, Shane Whitaker and wife, Kelly, Travis K. Whitaker and wife, Shannon, four grandchildren, Lilly, Chase, Kenly and Peyton Whitaker, sister, Pamela Whitaker and husband, David Craven, sisters by marriage, Christine Flinchum, Lisa Coley, Sherry Dawkins, Keela Dawkins, nephews, Jonathan, Austin, Trent, Brandon, Matthew, Dakota, Winston, Nolan and nieces, Kaylan and Aileen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Larue Whitaker as well as his grandparents.
Richard is now in heaven, no longer sick and celebrating with his family and those who were there to meet him.
