Rebecca Jane Brooks Smith, 94, of Liberty, died Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Graybrier Nursing and Retirement Center in Trinity.

Graveside Services, 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Gilmore Memorial Park, Julian.

Officiating, Rev. Wayne Smith.

Rebecca was a native of Wilkes County and a longtime resident of Liberty. She was formerly employed as a seamstress in the textile industry. Rebecca was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Edward Smith, her parents, Hardin Elbert and Susan R. "Della" Brooks, and sisters, Mattie, Callie, Mary, Ethel, and brother, Lonnie.

Survivors: daughter, Donna Smith Johnson, of Trinity, son, James Smith and wife, Naomi, of Elkin, grandchildren, Melissa Riley, of Trinity, Clayton Johnson, of Trinity, Wayne Smith and wife, DeeDee, of Ronda, Teresa Blackburn and husband, Eddie, of Elkin, Nina McCoy and husband, Steven, of Elkin, 17 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to Jerilynn Roblee, Lauren Talley, Susan Oldham, Michelle Tyndall, Melissa Rife, Linda Heaton, Angie Smith, Monica Jarrett, Kay Palmer, Michelin Monk, Senovia Titus, Virginia Helmes, Oneeka Jackson and Michelle Kelly for taking such good care of Rebecca and becoming "Family." The family would also like to give a special thank you to Rebecca's "adopted" grandchildren, Hannah Sparks and Mindy Garrett.
