Raeford Bascum Cox, 80, of Asheboro, died Friday, August 20, 2021 at his residence.
Funeral Services, 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 22, 2021, at Richland Baptist Church, Asheboro.
Officiating, Rev. Thomas Smith.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Raeford was a native of Randolph County and retired from Energizer Battery. He was a member of Richland Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School teacher and deacon. Raeford formerly served on the Franklinville Fire Department Board of Directors. He was a devoted husband and loved his children and grandchildren. Raeford loved his cows, gardening and was known as the "tomato man". He was preceded in death by his parents, Bascom Glenn and Mamie Ethel Beck Moon Cox, brothers, Glenn Cox, Walter Grady Moon, Rev. Benjamin Ray Moon, sisters, Shirley Lambeth, Pearl Harvell, Eva Mae Long, and Dorothy Humble.
Survivors: wife, Rachel Burgess Cox, of the home, daughters, Julie Ann Cox, of Asheboro, Anita Lynn Richardson and husband, Mark, of Seagrove, son, Mark Raeford Cox and wife, Deanna, of Asheboro, brothers, Rev. James Theron Moon, of Burlington, Harold Lee Moon, of Asheboro, grandchildren, Amber Richardson Wilson, Cameron Drew Cox, Cole Randall Richardson, Ethan Zane Ivey, great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Brown Richardson, Nellie Brown Richardson, Harper Madeline Cox.
The body will lie in repose from noon until 5:00 PM on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur.
Visitation, 1:30 PM to 2:45 PM, Sunday, Richland Baptist Church, Asheboro and other times at the residence.
