Rachel Karen Hayes, 68, of Seagrove, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Pleasant Hill Community Church, 5474 Pleasant Hill Rd., Seagrove, NC 27341. The family will receive friends prior to the service from noon until 1:45 PM in the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Rachel was a graduate of Southwestern Randolph High School and received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. For many years she was a fashion designer and pattern maker. Later in life she taught middle school for the Montgomery County Public School System. Rachel had a sweet spirit and always found it easy to compliment others.
Rachel was an avid Bible Student and a member of Pleasant Hill Community Church. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Franklin Hayes and Edna Lee Jordan Hayes, brother and sister-in-law, Noel Lee Hayes and Barbara Beck Hayes, brother-in-law, Donald Wesley Johnson, and niece, Julie Cox Stickler.
Survivors: She is survived by her brother, David Franklin Hayes (Sue), of Seagrove, sister, Ruth Hayes McNeill (Roy), of Seagrove, Gladys Hayes Johnson, Elizabeth Hayes Cox (Eugene), both of Asheboro, Carol Hayes Edwards, of St. Simons Island, GA., and numerous nieces and nephews who all shared a special bond with her and all have many wonderful "Rachel Stories".
The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Mark and Marlene Dawalt, Nancy Woodard, Brenda Baker, Laura Castelloe, Donna Lynn Mason and the Hospice of Randolph team for their compassion and assistance with Rachel's care.
