Peggy Crutchfield Smith, 89, of Liberty, died Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at her residence.

Graveside Services, 2:00 PM, Friday, September 11, 2020, at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Siler City.

Officiating, Rev. Herbert Lowry.

Peggy was born in Chatham County to John C. Crutchfield, Sr. and Vallie Cook Crutchfield on May 22, 1931. She was a homemaker and a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Jack Smith, Sr. of 53 years, parents, great-grandsons, Jackson Presnell, Hughston Lanier, Jacob Lanier, brothers, Levotis Crutchfield, Talton Crutchfield, Everett Crutchfield and John Crutchfield, Jr., sisters, Lillian Ingold, Mildred Shoffner, Rachael Perry, Ruth Coble, Polly Hicks.

Survivors: daughters, Jan Wicker, Terri Watson (Bill), Kelli Ferguson (Todd), son, Jackie Smith (Janie), grandchildren, Michael Wicker (Jackie), Katie Luck (Nick), Ashley Watson (Jason), Hannah Smith (Blake), Chandler Kidd (Caleb), Madison Ferguson, Malea Ferguson, great-grandchildren, Raylin Presnell, Alec, Dawson and Malon Luck, Winston Kidd, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Anne and Junior Caviness, Betty and Bobby Faulkner, Brower Smith, Marie Smith, numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude for the loving care that was provided to their mother by her wonderful caregiver Elizabeth Simmons, and hospice nurse, Carmen Pippin along with the other wonderful people at Hospice of Randolph for the excellent care each one gave to their mother.

The body will lie in state from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur.

Visitation will be held following the Graveside Service at Smith's Barn located at 6918 Kinro Road, Liberty, NC.
