Pattie Allen Craven Obituary

Pattie Allen Craven, 87, of Asheboro, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Cross Road Retirement Community Memory Care in Asheboro.

Funeral Services, 3:00 PM, Monday, February 19, 2024, at Holly Spring Friends Meeting, Ramseur.

Officiating, Rev. Todd Brown.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pattie was a native of Randolph County, born on February 1, 1937, and the daughter of Eli and Mishie McNeil Allen. She was one of nine children and graduated from Ramseur High School in 1955. She married Lynden Craven on June 29, 1956 at Pleasant Ridge Church in Ramseur, NC. They both graduated from Continental Beauty College and became the owners and operators of Craven's Beauty Shop in Asheboro, NC. Eventually, they built a home on the Craven family farm near Coleridge and became poultry farmers for many years. In later years, Pattie became a certified substitute teacher and worked with Randolph County Schools, mostly at Southwestern Randolph Middle School which she loved.

Pattie was a long-time member of Holly Spring Friends Meeting where she enjoyed serving in many areas. Pattie had a servant's heart and it brought her tremendous joy to help others. She also loved being around people and will be remembered for her fun-loving personality and wit. It was often said that she could "light up a room".

Besides going to church, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and she cherished special times with her grandsons, Eric and Eli. She was very devoted to her family and made them feel loved every day of their lives.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynden, her parents, sisters, Daphna Newlin, Stella Craven, Gertie Lee Dark, Dorcas Edwards, Cloyce Moon, Nadine Moffitt, Rebecca Powell and brother, Quentin Allen.

Survivors: daughters, Judi Godfrey and husband, Bill, of Asheboro, Suzanne Hayes and husband, Steven, of Seagrove, grandchildren, Eric Hayes and wife, Stephanie, of Durham, Eli Hayes and wife, Hayden, of Charlotte, step-granddaughters, Kim Roth and husband, Mike, of Wake Forest, and Missy Eddy, of Raleigh,  step-great-granddaughter, Emily Roth, of Wake Forest, along with many very special nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express a very special "thank you" to Pattie's team of caregivers at Cross Road Retirement Community Memory Care and to Hospice of Randolph. Their daily care and compassion were very much appreciated by her daughters.
