Patricia "Pat" Vaillancourt Whitehead

Patricia "Pat" Vaillancourt Whitehead, 79, of Asheboro, died Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM, Monday, July 10, 2023, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Asheboro.

Officiating, Rev. Fr. Philip Kollithanath.

Burial will follow with a right of committal at Sunset Knoll Cemetery, Ramseur.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Armand Robert and Juanita Medford Vaillancourt.

Pat was born February 14, 1944 in Asheville, NC and grew up in Natchitoches, Louisiana and Black Mountain, NC. She graduated in 1962 from Charles D. Owen High School in Swannanoa, NC. Pat attended Memorial Mission School of Nursing in Asheville and earned her nursing degree in 1965. Her career as a registered nurse included working at Memorial Mission Hospital, Asheville, occupational health nurse, hospice nurse with Hospice of Randolph, office nurse with Dr. Michael Dugan in Siler City, Dr. Douglas Schultz and White Oak Physicians in Asheboro.

While attending nursing school, Pat met the love of her life, Micky, a pharmacy student at UNC Chapel Hill. Pat & Micky were married on June 18, 1967 and were married for 56 years.

Pat and Micky were best friends, always shopping together, sightseeing, traveling, cruising and eating out. She especially loved to eat at Yum Yum and the Pavilion Restaurant in Greensboro. Pat was an avid UNC Tarheels fan & liked to spend time with Micky on their patio looking at flowers, birds, and butterflies.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother who looked forward each year to the family Christmas party and the annual family beach trip when she was with all of her children and grandchildren. Pat always bragged on her children and grandchildren's accomplishments and was very proud of them.

Survivors: husband, Charles Michael "Micky" Whitehead, of the home, daughter, Cheryl Whitehead Hollady, and husband, Mark, of Lusby, MD, son, Charles Michael "Mike" Whitehead, Jr., and wife Sandy, of Ramseur, sisters, Cecil Kirkpatrick, of Leicester, NC, Mildred "Mimi" Dobbins, and husband, Mike, of Creston, NC, brother, Armand Robert "Bob" Vaillancourt, Jr., and wife, Darlene, of Asheville, grandchildren, Jordan Allen Hollady, Taylor Hollady Flemming, and husband, Tyler, Austin Michael Whitehead, Carson Matthew Whitehead.

A Vigil for the deceased will be observed at 5:30 PM, Sunday evening for family and friends. The family will receive friends following the service from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the Loflin Funeral Home in Ramseur.
