Obituary

Matthew Ray Goss, 42, of Kernersville, died Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Matthew Goss, a beloved father, friend, and colleague, who passed away after a courageous journey with brain cancer.

Matthew is survived by his loving children, Lennox & Venice Goss; his mother, Linitta Hinshaw and step father CR; his father Raymond Goss and step-mother Terry; sister, Brandi Mallory and husband Luke; niece, Brooklyn Mallory; niece Abigail Brian and husband Landon; nephew, Caleb Mallory.

Matthew was born on January 15, 1981 in Terre Haute, Indiana, where he grew up and spent his early years. He enjoyed playing with matchbox cars, watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and playing basketball. As he grew up, he remained close to his childhood friends, Tim and Brian, and together, they went on many adventures and created lifelong memories.

After completing his education, Matthew spent the majority of his career as a manager at Lowes Home Improvement. Matthew had a passion for mentoring and developing his team members. He was known for his sharp business acumen and willingness to go the extra mile to help those around him succeed. He was a true leader and role model, and his impact on the lives of his colleagues and friends will never be forgotten.

Matthew was a devoted father to his two children, Lennox and Venice. He cherished every moment spent with them, taking Lennox to the arcade and movies, and enjoyed shopping trips to Claire's and dinner dates with Venice.  He was proud of his children and made sure to be there for them, offering love, guidance, and support. In his spare time, Matthew enjoyed gaming on his Xbox with his friends and Lennox.

In 2015, Matthew was diagnosed with brain cancer. Despite the challenges he faced, he remained hopeful and resilient. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the team at Wake Forest Baptist Health Oncology department for their care during this journey and the team at the Hospice House in Asheboro for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time. A special thank you to his mother and sister who loved and helped Matthew throughout his journey.

Matthew will be remembered for his sense of humor, his sharp wit, and his love for Lennox and Venice. His legacy of mentorship, compassion, and resilience will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
