Mary Ann Chapman Carte

Mary Ann Chapman Carte, 89, of Liberty, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at her residence.

Graveside Services, 11 AM, Monday, May 1, 2023, at Dr. Clyde M. Gilmore Memorial Park, Julian.

Officiating, Rev. John Harmon.

Mary Ann  was a native of Frame West Virginia in Kanawha County and a longtime resident of Liberty. She was a faithful member of Cool Springs Baptist Church and was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mary Ann was an award winning artist. She loved to garden and mow her yard. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Russell L. Carte, her parents, Melvin and Vesta Sampson Chapman, and son-in-law, Delmar Cliborne, Sr.

Survivors: daughters, Linda Cliborne, of Powhantan, VA, Judith Brinegar, of Danville, VA, Julia Carte, of the home, son, Russell Carte, Jr., and wife, Brenda, of Liberty, brothers, Kermit Chapman, of Smithfield, VA. and Ralph Chapman, of Elkview, W Va., eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Hospice of the Piedmont.
