Louise Duncan Brewer, 100, of Ramseur, died Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Secu Jim & Betsy Bryan UNC Hospice Home in Pittsboro.

Funeral Services, 3 PM, Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, Ramseur.

Officiating, Pastor Michael Mills.

Burial, Sunset Knoll Cemetery, Ramseur.

Louise was a native and lifelong resident of eastern Randolph County for over one hundred years. She was a 1939 graduate of Ramseur High School and was a homemaker and farmer. Louise was a member of White's Chapel Community Church. She credited her long life to hard work. Louise lost her husband in 1975 and kept the family farm going, milking cows, raising fruits, vegetables, and flowers for decades. For many years she provided this homegrown goodness to the Foodline grocery store in Ramseur, and to residents of town, who knew her as the "strawberry lady." She drove a "four in the floor" pickup truck and used a push mower to mow her yard, well into her nineties. In her younger years she worked several jobs in the hosiery mills, and was a proud member of the McCrary softball team. Louise was an avid fan of her sister Doris' basketball teams, and later she took accounting classes and was a bookkeeper for several years for Coble Dairy. Although she always loved the outdoors, she also was adept at needlework, her favorite being crochet. Many friends and family members have their last name crocheted into a doily, and each grandchild and great grandchild has a baby afghan made by her hand. Louise was preceeded in death by her husband, Harry Taft Brewer, her son, Don Coble Brewer, her parents, Lawrence Edgar and Mabel Coble Duncan, her sisters, Iva York, and Doris Teague, and special niece, Teresa Teague.

Survivors: sons, Harry Duncan Brewer, and wife, Cindy, of Fuquay Varina, Edgar David "Ed" Brewer, and wife, Susan, of Davidson, NC, grandchildren, David Brewer, of Fuquay Varina, Caroline Graham, and husband, Stephen, of Sanford, Bethany Mirek, and husband, Chris, of Raleigh, Zach Brewer, and wife, Darra, of Sacramento, CA, Jordan Spira, and husband, Jeff, of Denver, CO,Jamison Brewer, and wife Liz, of Dallas, TX, great-grandchildren, Chloe, Emma, Lydia, Ajax, Dash, Aster, and special niece, Debbie Brady, and husband, Nick, of Ramseur.
