Joseph "Joe" Allen Obituary

Joseph "Joe" Ray Allen, 60, of Bennett, died Sunday, December 27, 2020 at his residence.

Funeral Services, 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, Ramseur.

Officiating, Rev. Dale Collingwood.

Joe was an amazing and caring, husband, father, and friend who took great joy in helping others. He was a graduate of Chatham Central High School and served as Vice President of McRae Roofing of Asheboro for many years. Joe was an avid sportsman of all types. His passion was deer hunting and shooting competition. Joe was a firearm enthusiast who enjoyed teaching and coaching others of all ages the art of accuracy and tournament shooting. He was a member of the Rockingham County Gun Club, Deep River Gun Club and Brush Creek Shooters. He enjoyed golfing in the summer and fishing at the N.C. coast. Joe was the son of the late Samuel Burns and Wilma Epperson Allen and was also preceded in death by brother, Samuel Leslie Allen; and niece, Joanna Delta Allen.

Survived by his loving wife and best friend of 37 years, Bonnie Smyre Allen; sons, Billy Joe Allen (Sara), Tommy Lee Allen (Kimberly); daughters, Rhonda Allen McCanless (Eck), Jennifer Nicole Allen Carter (Chris); brother, Tim Allen (Pam); sisters, Millie Cannon, and Sandra Allen-Bulla; grandchildren, Levon and Jonas McCanless, Garrett, Harlow, and Clark Allen.  He also had many nieces and nephews, and was "Pops" to Jake Smith and all his hunting buddies, who will cherish his memory.

He will lie in repose from noon until 5:00 PM on Friday, January 1, 2021 at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur.
