John Lee Wells, Sr.

John Lee Wells, Sr., 91, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the family cemetery in Tillman, SC.

John was a native of Jasper County, SC and a longtime resident of Randolph County. He earned his Master's Degree in Industrial Management at Georgia Tech and was the founder and owner/operator of Wells Hosiery which he started in 1974, until his retirement in 1989. John was a member of the Tillman United Methodist Church in Tillman, SC, and was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the NC Jaycees, the Lions Club and the United Way. John was also very active with Farm Bureau and the Farm Service Agency. He was preceded in death by, his wife, Celesta Daley Wells, his parents, Henry Bradley and Ruth Coleman Wells, sisters, Sara Tillery, Mary Wells, and his brothers, Henry Bradley Wells, JR., Gordon Wells, and Lewis Thomas Wells.

Survivors: daughters, Janet Nance, and husband, Tommy, of Asheboro, Amy Camus, and husband Glenn. of Pittsburg, PA, son, John Lee Wells, Jr., of Asheboro, grandchildren, Melissa Gorman, of Morrisville, John Lee Wells III, of TN, Kelly Camus, of Durham, Jaclyn Camus, of PA, great-grandchild, Elijah Gorman, many nieces and nephews.
