James Cecil "Bucky" Dennis, Sr.

James Cecil "Bucky" Dennis, Sr., 77, of Asheboro, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

Funeral Services, 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, Ramseur.

Officiating, Brother-in-law Aubrey Johnson.

Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Siler City, with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

Bucky was born in Moore County and was a longtime resident of Asheboro. He spent much of his career as a maintenance technician for various companies and enjoyed serving as a Captain with the Asheboro Fire Department for several years. Bucky loved his country and was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served three tours of duty in Vietnam and receiving various service medals. He attended Pleasant Garden Baptist Church; He knew and loved Jesus for over thirty years, with the result that he became one of the most generous souls one could meet. Among spending time with family, he enjoyed carpentry, gardening and fishing. Bucky was preceded in death by his son, Jamie Dennis, his father, Hubert Dennis, and mother, Cassie Morgan Dennis Long, siblings, Roy Lee Davis, Virginia Davis Hancock and Gerry Dennis Berry.

Survivors: wife of twenty eight years, Barbara Johnson Dennis, daughter, Amber Ward, and husband, Kenneth, son, Kevin Dennis, grandchildren, Preston, Joshua and Caleb Ward.

Visitation, 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM, Sunday, Loflin Funeral Home, Inc. & Cremation Service, Ramseur.
