James Thomas Barker

James Thomas Barker, 84, of Asheboro, died Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Universal Health Care in Ramseur.

A private time of visitation will be held for the family at Loflin Funeral Home, followed by a service of remembrance at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Franklinville. The family will receive friends at the residence.

James was a native of Surry County and a longtime resident of Randolph County. He served in the U.S. Navy and attended Russells Grove Baptist Church. James was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Beulah Slaydon Barker, step-sister, Teresa Perdue and brother, Johnny Barker.

Survivors: wife, Mary Russell Barker, of the home, sons, Kenneth Barker and wife, Crystal, of Farmer, Terry Barker and wife, Megan, of Asheboro, step-daughters, Tara O'Rourke, of Alabama, Ashley Spooner, of Anger, step-son, Brian Chriscoe, of Asheboro, sister, Carolyn Ward, and husband, Doug, of Asheboro, brothers, Kenneth Barker and wife, Angie, of Burlington, Ores Barker and wife, Joyce, of Lexington, and step-sister, Diane Kearns, and husband, Walton, of Asheboro, grandchildren, Austin Barker, Catherine Barker, Chloe Barker, Caden Barker, Brantley Phipps, Devin and Peyton Barker, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
