Jackie White Rawlings, 78, of Ramseur, died Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro following a short and courageous struggle with Covid Pneumonia. Her husband Ron was with Jackie when she passed, just weeks before their 48th wedding anniversary.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack H. and Dixie Craven White of Ramseur. She is survived by her husband Ronald W. Rawlings of the home; a sister, Ann White Spencer and her husband Fr. Glenn M. Spencer of Charlottesville, VA; a niece, Hannah Spencer Fitzhugh, her husband John E. Fitzhugh, and their daughters Amelia Inez and Marielle Cawood Fitzhugh, all of Charlottesville, VA; and a brother-in-law Bill Rawlings and his wife Bitsy of Smyrna, TN.
Jackie was a native of Randolph County and a longtime resident of Ramseur. She grew up in First Christian Church where she was nurtured, baptized, married, and where she worshiped and served for most of her life. She and Ron both graduated from Piedmont Bible College and taught in Christian schools in North Carolina and Virginia before returning to Randolph County more than 30 years ago. Then Jackie began her second career in business at Piedmont Christian Village in Pittsboro.
At First Christian Church, Jackie’s favorite ministries were Awana, Neighborhood Bible Time (sometimes more than 200 kids attended), women’s ministries, and the choir. Jackie loved traveling with her friends at the church and rarely missed a trip. She attended services until she was unable to physically handle the trip over to church and back home. Jackie was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, and friend to so many.
The family would like to thank everyone at First Christian and Staywell Senior Care who gave thoughtful and consistent care and kindness to Jackie during the pandemic and her illness in May.
Graveside Memorial Services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Sunset Knoll Cemetery, Ramseur, with Rev. Garry Arnett officiating. Jackie’s brother-in-law Fr. Glenn M. Spencer of Charlottesville, VA, will participate in the graveside service.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Ramseur.
Arrangements by Loflin Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ramseur.
