Donald Wilbert Scotton, 84, passed from this life into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 12, 2023. Donald loved his Lord, his family, his church family and his country. He was born to Marvin and Addie Pugh Scotton and lived his entire life in Staley, NC. He graduated from Staley School in 1957 then went to work at Randolph Telephone Company where he served the Liberty community for 35 years. Donald was a faithful member of Holly’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church where he had served as deacon and trustee. Donald loved to quail hunt in his younger years and enjoyed fishing all his life. In retirement, he remained active as a poultry farmer, gardener and beekeeper. He loved sharing his produce and honey with others.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Faye Dorman Scotton, daughter, Lisa Canoy and husband Mark, son, Tim Scotton and wife Renita. He was blessed with granddaughters Stephanie Kearns (Forrest), Sarah Gooch (Sawyer), Brandi Ketchum (Scott) and grandsons Josh Canoy and Aaron Canoy; greatgrandchildren McKinley and Connor. Donald is also survived by brother Rev. Delmar Scotton (Betty), sisters Frances Martin (Bob) and Linda Kimrey (Wayne), numerous nieces and nephews and many cherished friends. In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by brother Hampton Scotton (Edna) and sisters Eunice Wicker (Donald) and Shirley Hughes (Floyd).
Visitation will be held from 1:30 PM to 2:45 PM on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Holly’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Ramseur. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with Pastor Dwayne Lester and Reverend Tim Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
