David Wayne Stewart, 73, of Franklinville, died Saturday, November 11, 2023 at his residence following a courageous two-year battle with brain cancer.
Funeral Services, 2 PM, Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, Ramseur.
Officiating, Ron Coleman.
Burial, Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, Ramseur with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
David was born in Ramseur, NC to the late Harry Redding and Ollie Beane Stewart. He graduated from Ramseur High School. David worked at Energizer Battery Company for 35 years before retirement. David also served in the U.S. Army Reserves and N.C. National Guard for 27 years. In 1991, he deployed to Iraq with Operation Desert Storm and, in 2003, he deployed to Iraq a second time with Operation Iraqi Freedom. Until his illness, David also drove a semi-truck and travelled much of the East Coast and Midwest. He was a member of Dove Christian Center. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Stewart.
David is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret Groce Stewart, his son, Joshua Stewart and wife Kimberly Stewart of Charlottesville, Virginia, and his pride and joy, grandson, Micah Stewart.
The family would like to thank Dr. Zachary Vaslow and Nurse Kim for their dedicated care and attention over the last two years.
