"Corky" Malcolm McCorquodale Jr. Obituary

"Corky" Malcolm Gilmer McCorquodale, Jr., 70, of Liberty, died Monday, June 1, 2020 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

Graveside Services, 3:00 PM, Thursday, June 4, 2020, at Gilmore Memorial Park, Julian. A Celebration of Life will also be held at a later date.

Officiating, Rev. Joe Edwards.

Corky was a native of Randolph County, retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in the Maintenance Department and a member of First Baptist Church in Franklinville. He was in the first graduating class of Eastern Randolph High School and received a diploma in automotive mechanics after graduation. Corky was a very loving, caring, and giving person and was always doing things for others. He was a very gifted and talented man. Corky had excellent mechanical skills, was very artistic, loved working on vehicles, and woodworking. He enjoyed travelling, gardening, working outdoors but especially spending time with his family and friends. Corky enjoyed watching the New York Yankees, Carolina, NASCAR and playing with his beloved fur babies, Scotty and Katie. He was a Christian man who loved the Lord very much and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.  Corky was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm Sr. and Helena Richardson McCorquodale, and brother, Joe McCorquodale.

Survivors: wife, Diane Smith McCorquodale, of the home, sons, Eric Todd McCorquodale and wife, Rosa, of Ramseur, Tony McCorquodale and wife, Dianne, of Ware, MA., brothers, Darrell McCorquodale, of Ramseur, Mike McCorquodale and wife, Joyce, of Cedar Falls, grandchildren, Wesley McCorquodale, Gracie McCorquodale, both of Ware, MA., Fatima Arenas, Luis Arenas, Carlos Arenas, all of Siler City, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Carolyn Smith, of Liberty, special niece, Laura Fitzsimmons and husband, Michael, of Indian Trail, special great niece, Amelia Fitzsimmons, special great nephew, Luke Fitzsimmons, both of Indian Trail, several cousins and two best friends, Jasper Pearson, Lee Oxendine.

The body will lie in state on Wednesday from noon to 5:00 PM at the Loflin Funeral Home.
