Brian Walker Mills

Brian Walker Mills, 65, of Millboro, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

A Graveside Service and Celebration of Life for Brian will be held at Grays Chapel United Methodist Church at 2 PM on Sunday, October 1, 2023 with the Rev. Lynn Chaney officiating.

Brian was born on November 9, 1957, to Claude Julius Mills and Lois Walker Mills in Greensboro, NC.
 
Brian graduated from Page High School in Greensboro, NC and continued his education at Nashville Auto Diesel College in Nashville, TN. He worked in the HVAC and refrigeration industry until retirement. He then spent his days helping his family and friends with various handyman needs.
 
Brian and Heather were introduced by mutual friends in 1976 and were great friends. They lost touch when Brian went away to college, but they reunited in 1990 and have been together ever since. Brian was also very proud of his sons and grandchildren.
 
Brian was gruff on the outside, but he had a strong heart for the underdog and would help anyone in need. He loved his family and all animals, but especially his dogs. Brian had a wonderful sense of humor and loved being a goofball and making people laugh. He was known affectionately by his nieces and nephews as Big B.

Brian was predeceased by his mother and father and his mother-in-law, Janet Pugh Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Heather Jan Johnson-Mills of the home and Zoe and Bailey, his canine companions. He is also survived by his two children Matthew Dillon Mills (Alysia) and Reid Walker Mills of Waxhaw as well as five grandchildren, Evan and Owen Mills and Kelsey, Memphis and Jackson Mills. Brian was also survived by his father-in-law, Jessie Thomas Johnson; brother-in-laws, Robert Thomas Johnson (Peggy) and Kerry Joe Johnson (Tonyia); sister-in-law April Johnson Corder (Cameron); nieces and nephews Logan Thomas Johnson, Lia Elizabeth Johnson, Stephanie Ryanne Corder (Patrick), Brooks Wingate Corder (Addie), Joseph Houston Johnson (Catherine), Kerry Clayton Johnson, and Jessie Grayson Johnson; and two great nephews, Ezariah Christopher Buncy and Draven Daniel Thomas Johnson.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service and other times at the residence.
