Doris Lindley Cox, 80, of Ramseur, died Monday, July 23, 2018 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.
Funeral Services, 2 PM, Friday, July 27, 2018, at Parks Crossroads Christian Church, Ramseur.
Officiating, Rev. Randy Kelley.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Doris was a native of Chatham County, retired Bridal Consultant for Belk Department Store and a member of the Parks Crossroads Christian Church. For fifty years she was the organist at her church and was a volunteer at the Ramseur Food Pantry. Doris hosted a prayer group that met once a month in her home. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Mitchel W. Simmons and Elvin Cox, parents, James G. and Grace Edwards Lindley, sister-in-law, Laura Craven.
Survivors: sons, Richard Lindley Simmons, and wife Connie, of Mechanicsville, VA, Robert Brian Simmons, and wife Mary-Belle, of Staley, Andrew James Simmons, of Meridian, MS, step-sons, Terry Cox, and wife Judy, of High Point, Jeffrey Cox, of Shalimar, FL, Brian Cox, and wife Sharon, of Charlotte, sisters, Hazel L. Moon, Betty L. Teague, both of Snow Camp, brother James Randall "Randy" Lindley, of Snow Camp, seventeen grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, special best friend, Linda B. Brooks, sister-in-laws, Iris S.Ralph, of Owensboro, KY,, Joann S. Winslow, of Monroe, NC., Hilda S. Douglas, of Lilburn, GA.
