Boyd "Shorty" Donald Hardin, 89, of Franklinville, died Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.
Funeral Services, 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, Ramseur, with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Officiating, Rev. Howard Moffitt, Rev. Lynda Ferguson.
Burial, Sunset Knoll Cemetery, Ramseur.
Shorty was a lifelong resident of Randolph County, was retired from Union Carbide/Energizer after 30 years of service, and a member of First Baptist Church, Franklinville. He was a veteran of the United States Army (Signal Corps), assigned to the Post WWII Occupation Force, in Trieste, Italy (TRUST). He spent many years umpiring local baseball, raising beagle puppies, rabbit hunting, gardening, and listening to bluegrass music. He enjoyed socializing in the local cafes, hanging out in Ramseur Pharmacy, and rocking in his carport keeping up with who all were riding by. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and was a very proud great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Fleta Chandler Hardin, daughter, Robin Hardin, brothers, C.T. Hardin, and wife, Ora, Claude Hardin, and wife, Wilma.
Survivors: wife, of 65 years, Martha N. Hardin, of the home, son, Chris Hardin, and wife, Lauren, of Asheboro, granddaughter, Samantha Binkley, and husband, Zack, of Winston Salem, grandson, Matthew Hardin, and friend, Hope Earnhardt, of Trinity, great-granddaughter, Caelynne Binkley, of Winston Salem, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Wednesday, Loflin Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ramseur, and other times at the residence.
