Billy Denson Chilton

Billy Denson Chilton, 84, of 5462 Country Farm Rd., Bennett, died Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation Center in Asheboro.

Funeral Services, 2 PM, Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Maple Springs United Methodist Church, Ramseur.

Officiating, Rev. Sam Harris, Rev. Ron Wachs, Rev. Ben Chavis.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

Billy was a native of Randolph County and a member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School and held many offices. He was a graduate of Bennett High School. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Elon University, and his Master's Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Billy was a veteran of the United States Army. He taught math and science at both Asheboro and Southwestern Randolph High Schools. Billy also worked for Klopman Mills and Stonecutter Mills as a color analyst, and later retired as a Randolph County Tax Supervisor. He enjoyed his farm, playing golf, photography, and wood working. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Graham Reid and Wilma Phillips Chilton, and brother, Quayne Chilton.

Survivors: wife, Joan Hussey Chilton, of the home, daughter, Cheryl Scott, and husband, Steven, of Allen, Texas, son, David Chilton, and wife, Denise, of Asheboro, sister, Gaye Trotter, of Bennett, grandchildren, Zachary Chilton, Jordan Chilton, Wesley Chilton, step-grandchild, Ryan Scott, and wife, Angel, step-great grandchildren, Elizabeth Scott, Sean Scott, Jack Scott, Deaglan Scott, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation, 1 PM to 2 PM, Saturday, Maple Springs United Methodist Church, Ramseur and other times at the residence.
