Burial, Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.

LaWood was a native of Columbus County, retired from Thompson Arthur APAC, and a member of Franklinville Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leamon Woodrow and Irene White Carteret.

Survivors: wife, Linda Carteret of the home, daughters, Penny Joyce, of Franklinville, Tina Stout, husband Charlie, of Franklinville, Teresa Carteret, of Rural Hall, sons, Michael Dale Edwards, of Franklinville, Ronnie Carteret, of Statesville, sisters, Yvonne Stegenga, of Siler City, Joyce Duncan, of Chadbourn, brother, Ben Carteret, of Lake Waccamaw, grandchildren, Henry Joyce, wife, Mikala, of Staley, Linda Whittington, husband, Michael, of Franklinville, Heather Carteret, of Baltimore, MD., great-grandchildren, Marissa Irene Whittington, Michael Whittington II, Henry Samuel Joyce Jr.
