Jimmie Lynn Dawkins, 87, of 937 Pleasant Ridge Church Road, Ramseur, died Sunday, May 15, 2016 at his residence.

Funeral Services, 3:00 PM, Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, Ramseur.

Officiating, Rev. Mark Beane.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

Mr. Dawkins was a native of Lee County, a member of Pleasant Ridge Christian Church and was a self employed welder.  He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Korea.  One of his legacies to his family was his love of horses.  Having taught them how to ride, they spent many hours riding and building many memories. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marley and Mattie Ellington Dawkins.

Survivors: wife, Betty Mitchell Dawkins, of the home, daughters, Renee D. Low, and husband Bryan, of Thomasville, Lynette D. Shipwash, of Ramseur, son, Jimmie M. Dawkins, and wife Karen, of Thomasville, grandchildren, Cristin Hassell, Mitchell Rosser, Michaela Dawkins, Mariah Dawkins, great-granddaughter, Peyton Hassell.

Visitation, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Wednesday, Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, Ramseur and other times at the residence.
