Jesse Lewis Beard, 85, of 456 N. Main St., Staley, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at his residence.

Funeral Services, 3 PM, Sunday, March 19, 2017, at First Christian Church, Ramseur.

Officiating, Rev. Garry Arnett, Pastor Michael Barrett.

Burial, Staley Cemetery, Staley with Military Honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

Jesse Lewis Beard was born in Chatham County. He was a 1952 graduate of Staley High School. After graduation, Lewis served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. He was employed with Stout Chair Company for 33 years and retired from Lazar Furniture Industries. Lewis was a former member of the Staley Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid deer hunter and founder of the B & W Hunting Club. He was also a charter member of the Eastern Randolph FFA Alumni Chapter and helped with many of their activities. Lewis enjoyed cooking BBQ for large events, tending his cows, and spending time with his beloved dog Abby.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John, and Fleta Brooks Beard, son, Gary Lewis Beard, sister, Nancy Cotner, and brothers, William Beard, and Joe Beard.

Survivors: wife, Patsy Cooper Beard, of the home, son, Erik Cooper Beard, and wife, Michele, of Randleman, sister, Mary Emma Bray, of Staley, brother, Alfred Beard, and wife, Beula, of Siler City.

Visitation, 1 PM to 2:45 PM, Sunday, First Christian Church Fellowship Hall, Ramseur.
