Christopher Thomas Ammen, 31, of Coleridge, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem following complications from a serious illness.

Funeral Services, 3:00 PM, Monday, March 13, 2017, at Concord United Methodist Church, Coleridge.

Officiating, Rev. Bob Dowling, Rev. Boyd Jackson.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Christopher was born March 26, 1985 at Moses Cone Hospital.  He attended Coleridge Elementary, SERMS and Eastern Randolph High School.  He graduated from the Randolph Community College Educational Program.  He was a volunteer at Randolph Hospital in the Emergency Room from age 14 until he got his nursing assistant degree.  Christopher then became an employee of the hospital and went on to become an EMT.  He volunteered with the Coleridge-Erect Fire Department and was employed by Piedmont Traid Ambulance Service.  He was a manager at Quick and Easy in Coleridge and loved his job, however more than that he enjoyed the patrons from the Coleridge community.  Christopher was a life member of Concord United Methodist Church in Coleridge and he loved to serve his church and community whenever he could.  He had a passion for helping the elderly in times of need.  He also enjoyed music and singing in the church choir with his wife, Kristen, his father and the church family.  He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and "Uncle T". He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Elvin Murray, and his paternal grandmother, Clara Mae Dyche.

Survivors: he is survived by his wife and best friend, Kristen Ammen, and their daughter, Emma Elizabeth Ammen, both of the home, parents, Charles and Carolyn Murray Ammen, of Coleridge, sister, Carla Ammen Threadgill, of Coleridge, maternal grandmother, Lola Poole Murray, of Coleridge, special aunts, Marcelle Murray, of Coleridge, Phyllis Owens, and husband, Billy, of New Bern, aunt, Pat Nelson, of Charleston, SC,  nephew, Murray Threadgill, of Coleridge, cousins, Will Owens, and wife Holly, of Cary, and their children, Harrison Owens, Emi Claire Owens, Shannon Amundson, of West Virginia, mother-in-law, Amy Hill, and husband, Donald, of Asheboro, best buddy and service dog, Jaxon.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Randolph Hospital ICU doctors, nurses, and staff members and to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, Reynolds Tower 4 ICU for their special care given to Christopher and his family.

Visitation, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday, Loflin Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ramseur and other times at the residence.
