Billy Ray Thompson, 58, of 2008 Kivett Council Road, Liberty, died Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

Funeral Services, 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Grays Chapel United Methodist Church, Franklinville.

Officiating, Rev. Charles Carter.

Burial, Grays Chapel United Methodist Church, Franklinville.

Billy was a native of Randolph County and formerly employed with Clifford W. Estes Company.  He liked to fish and in earlier years he played softball and also enjoyed spending time with his grandsons.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Colvin and Betty Hill Thompson, brother, Charles Thompson, and sister, Linda Marley.

Survivors: wife, Diane Wright Thompson, of the home, daughter, Christy Johnson, and husband, David, of Liberty, sisters, Brenda Cockman, and husband, Rick, of Ramseur, brother, Richard Thompson, of Ramseur, grandchildren, Mitchel Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Noah Johnson, several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Thursday, Grays Chapel United Methodist Church, Franklinville and other times at the residence.
